The root chakra is known as the seat of the soul. This is the first blip of consciousness developed.
In sanskrit, it means “root” and “support”. It’s main attributes are about security and survival. So it makes sense then, that at around 6 months, the baby begins to walk upon the Earth. As the baby is exploring, it is learning about its bodily functions, and is only concerned about its physical senses and survival mechanisms, i.e. water, food, shelter, security from its parents.
This area is about the lessons in life around the right to exist, including love for animals and all life.
Represented by the color red, it is in charge of our emotions, beliefs and experiences around survival. “seeing red” and “crimes of passion”, “burning with desire”, all have to do with this energy band.

Fitness
This is the foundation of the system. In order to move your vehicle, it needs to have a sturdy frame.
A yoga practice or a workout regimen is fundamental in churning the wheels. The new way of life (laziness) is completely distorting this energy circuitry in us.
Abuse
Whether at work, at home, or outside – abuse is detrimental to your psyche, your spirit, and your body. When someone is constantly cutting you down or violating your boundaries, they are using force to make you shrink down. When this happens, you are subconsciously telling yourself you don’t have the right to live and be free. This affects your throat chakra, your crown, and your root.
When your root is blocked or damaged, you start looking for ways to self-soothe. This can become very toxic! Some of the ways we try to bandaid the damages are drinking alcohol, using stimulants, watching negative videos, and emotional eating. These are all doorways for negative energies to enter and start to hack at our energetic system. You might also notice that this will retrigger other unresolved traumas, and you might spiritually or emotionally regress to animalistic or child-like tendencies.
I recently just awakened from a “pain body attack” that must have been going on for 5 years in the background. Like being in a dream within a dream, I snapped out, and noticed my behaviors were all self-destructive. My will wanted to be free, full of love and light – but my actions did not match up. It is like driving at 100 MPH, with the parking brake on. Like going backwards and forwards at the same time. You don’t notice until it starts smoking! Stay away from abusive and negative people at all costs.
Start Taking Action
One way to start to cleanse this wheel is to “just do it.” Imagine everything in the Universe is watching your every move, thought, and feeling. What would you want her to experience? To feel? What would you want to show your ancestors and make them proud? Honor thy self, and start checking off boxes.
It is also pertanent to pay attention to yourself just as the Universe does. Start to visualize yourself beyond yourself, and pay attention to the little details. Notice which tendencies are not serving you or anyone else and replace them with ones that do. All you are simply doing is transmutating non-effective to effective.
Incorporate More Red
Start eating more red fleshed fruits and vegetables, and take a look at your meat intake. If you are consuming a lot of meat, consider fasting off for a time and notice how you feel in your body. Some red clothing or stones might be useful to you, depending on what you believe. The purpose of this is to just shed “light” on this particular area and send it a little healing.
Music
Some tribal drums or EDM might also be useful to generate some energy in this spectrum, as it taps into some primitive energy and gets the blood flowing. Consider mixing these elements. As obvious as things usually are, we tend to slip back into unconscious behaviors and forget about the basics. You might want to consider lighting some incense like sandalwood, painting with red, or any activity such as this to get you into a spiritual state.
Accomplish Goals
The key here is to re-establish positive momentum. If you are struggling in this area it means some of your survival needs are not being met, or you may be struggling with self-worth. Creating some goals and achieving them is a great way to get some energy back.
